Ms. Kari

My name is Kari Triplett, and I’m a certified teacher with more than 15 years of teaching experience, in both private and public school settings. I founded Tri Village Academy LLC to help those within my community wishing to homeschool through inquiry-based learning, but lacking the resources, knowledge, or time to do so. Making the decision to homeschool can be daunting at first, and I want families to feel supported in their journey. My teaching background allows me to create custom curriculum plans for students around the United States, helping to establish their learning goals and skills, while providing parents with clear direction. In addition to creating custom curriculum, I also host in-person classes for students within our homeschooling classroom. Please contact me if you are interested in learning more about either of these options.

I was born and raised in the Tri-Cities region of Central Michigan. I attended Ferris State University on scholarship to their Honors Program. In 2007, I graduated with honors and a degree in Secondary English Education as one of the top students in the program. My first public school teaching position took me across the country to the small, western town of Rifle, Colorado. While there I met my husband and several years later we welcomed our first child. Once my husband finished his active duty service in the United States Marine Corps, we decided it was time to move back to Michigan as a family. Everyday I am thankful we made that choice. I am able to share my two passions, teaching and the outdoors, with members of my community, and inspire my students to explore the world around them.

Our Story

In 2015 I established Chickadees & Bumblebees preschool out of our Michigan home. I put my teaching expertise to use alongside my love for nature; the result was an in-home early education opportunity that connected children to our 20 acre hobby farm and forest. The program quickly grew and underwent several expansions in order to accomodate more families. The world events of 2020 changed the course of the program, as parents sought out alternative education options for their children. My background as a public school teacher and the high demand for private education led to our classroom resembling a one-room schoolhouse, with scholars of all ages learning alongside one another. I fell in love with teaching a mixed-aged group, and the variety of learning that could take place through homeschooling. What began as a small village of three families seeking private instruction, evolved into Tri Village Academy LLC.

Our Mission & Vision

From the very start of my teaching career, my classroom has always had three rules: 1. Respect for self. 2. Respect for others. 3. Respect for the environment. These three seemingly simple rules are the very foundation of all that takes place within our classroom community. The word “Tri” in our school name represents these three rules, as well as the three teachers: Families, Headmaster, and School Environment. These three teachers each play a role in shaping a child’s educational experience, while the child forges the educational path based on interest-led learning. It is my goal to make each child feel safe and valued within the classroom community, recognized for the strengths and skills they contribute. I know from experience that finding secular homeschooling resources can be challenging; it is my goal to connect others to these secular resources and simplify the homeschooling process for families seeking support. As it is often said, it takes a village to raise a child. We invite you to join our village.
